frequently asked questions

Why should I hire an Interior Designer?

So glad you asked :) In the world of Pinterest and AI, it's easy to think, "I got this!" - but the reality is, Pinterest doesn't tell you when your sectional won't fit thru the door! Hiring an interior designer saves you time, stress, and costly mistakes by translating your ideas (and pain points) into a cohesive plan and help you avoid impulse purchases that look fab online but fall flat in real life. We also handle behind-the-scenes details - space planning, sourcing, coordinating with contractors and problem-solving.

What is the design style of Styled Ivy Interiors?

My job as your interior designer is to learn and lean into your personal style and create a design that best reflects that.

But since you asked! The aesthetic that best reflects many of my projects would be Transitional, meaning I balance timeless architectural details and classic materials with modern silhouettes, updated finishes, and thoughtful restraint. These spaces feeling inviting and livable - not too formal or trendy - designed to evolve with you rather than feel dated in a few years. If you love classic design, but don't want your home to feel heavy or old-fashioned, or you like modern spaces but still want warmth and character - transitional design offers the best of both worlds.

How involved do I need to be in the design process?

This is entirely up to you! Some clients enjoy the creative process and want to be involved in details. Other clients may not have the time and leave the decision-making up to the designer, based off of information gathered during the initial site visit, Client Questionnaire, and Client Inspiration Session.

Do you work with existing furniture and finishes?

In many cases, yes! Often times, an architectural element of the home such as an unconventional fireplace or maybe a beloved piece of antique furniture that a client cannot part with is worked into the final design or relocated elsewhere in your home. It just depends!

How does communication work throughout a project?

A variety of methods (phone, email) work best during the early stages of planning and concept. Once designs are ready to be shared, you and I will meet in-person to review each concept as well as give you the opportunity to sample materials, fabrics and finishes. You will then have access to a digital portal where feedback and approvals take place.

How are your services priced?

Full-service and Virtual Design for both large and small spaces is priced at a flat rate based on the complexity and scope of the project. Styling enhancements and consultations is charged hourly with a four hour minimum. Furniture, fixtures and other products are priced separately and based on the budget we discuss.
